Item Description

A gorgeous and showy display quality specimen of the elusive Japan-law twinned Quartz pieces from the Bird Springs Garnet claim in the Saline Valley of California. This specimen host a 4.0 cm wide Japan-law twin of colorless/white Quartz perfectly centered among single prisms of Quartz on a bit of matrix. The surface of the crystals has a light matte etching appearance, but if you look through the "c" axis of the single Quartz prisms, you can see the crystals are VERY GEMMY internally. There is a bit of roughness in a few spots, so the piece isn't 100% pristine, but it's so aesthetic and sits so beautifully on its own without the aid of a base or clay. You almost never see these on the market, and they are a must-have if you collect worldwide Quartz specimens, twinned crystals or minerals of California. Priced in our inventory at $1,600. From the collection of Robert (Bob) Reynolds (#RR0103). Bob was a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of Earth Sciences at the San Bernardino County Museum in California. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011.
