Item Description

The famous Japan Law twin Quartz specimens from the renowned Siglo XX Mine are some of the most well-known examples of this famous twinning habit from any South American locality. It is important to note that Japan Law twins are one of few twinning habits where BOTH individual crystals are clearly visible (most other habits are tightly intergrown), as they are contact twins on the { 1 1 2 2 } face of the crystals. This specimen hosts a beautiful, razor-sharp, GEM quality, colorless Japan-Law twin of Quartz measuring 3.1 cm across associated with several single prismatic Quartz crystals and attractive radiating "balls" of cream colored Wavellite free of matrix. The overall quality is very good, as I can't see any major damage on the display side of the piece. This mine is best known for its superb phosphate species, and good Japan Law twins like this are very hard to find on the market today. This piece was mined in 2003 and displays beautifully on its own without the aid of a base or clay. Priced in the inventory at $1,500.
