Item Description

A really impressive LARGE CABINET display specimen of Quartz (var: "Milky Quartz") from the famous Mineral Farm locality just south/southwest of Ouray (near the road to the Camp Bird Mine). This locality was owned by people such as Waldo Butler and Mibs Waldrum years ago, and this particular specimen was acquired from Robert Stouffer whose label states that it was actually collected by Mibs Waldrum in the 1970s! The piece is hefty, three-dimensional and showy for what it is as it features dozens if not hundreds of sharp, well-formed, hexagonal prismatic "Milky Quartz" crystals measuring up to 1.3 cm on host rock matrix. The piece can be displayed where none of the rock shows and you can only see Quartz crystals, but it can be displayed from several angles. Overall, it's a really impressive piece as you just don't see "monster" specimens like this from this iconic locality in the San Juan Mountains of Colorado. Valued in the inventory at $1,300, and a great bargain for the starting bid.
