Item Description

A sculptural pair of tapered quartz crystals from this historic locale. The glassy translucent crystals have striking stepped-growth faces with dramatic second generation preferential overgrowths of dense sprays of smaller quartz points. The crystals are complete all-around and pristine, except for the basal attachment. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 8771 and acquired at Ron Bentley's shop in March, 1979. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). An exceptional and uncommon large example of two generation quartz from here.
