Item Description

A fascinating and superb combination pseudomorph from one of the famous extinct basalt trap rock quarries of Paterson, New Jersey. Quartz has casted a striking sharp christmas tree-shaped tabular anhydrite crystal leaving this stunning hollow 360-degree epimorph. One side and edge is sparkly, glassy quartz points. The other side is dramatically different. Here chlorite has preferentially and richly covered the quartz and is accented with glassy, complex calcite rhombs. Very interesting fluid flow chemistry here. The other edge reveals the fabulous hollow interior, where the anhydrite was dissolved away. A UNIQUE and amazingly aesthetic combination epimorph from the Wouter van Tichelen Pseudomorph Collection. A MUST for the New Jersey trap rock or species collector.
