This is an old classic style for a piece from India featuring a large Calcite twin that has been replaced by Quartz and then also coated by a second generation of transparent sparkling quartz. The twin itself measures 9 cm tall, 7.7 cm across, 3.4 cm in width and is replaced by Quartz and coated with drusy Quartz. The pseudomorph is a mottled off-white and whitish gray and is very statuesque in appearance. Paragenetically (meaning, the history of how it formed in sequences of deposition), it looks as though the original Calcite twin grew on banded, botryoidal Chalcedony and then was replaced by the Quartz and the subsequent Quartz druse covers both the Calcite pseudomorph and the Chalcedony! An aesthetically appealing piece with a great display composition and shape.
