Item Description

A showy and sculptural display specimen featuring sharp, well-formed, defined pseudomorphs of Quartz replacing Calcite from an unknown locality. The label states that the piece could possibly be from St Andreasberg in Germany. The largest pseudomorph measures 3.7 cm. I can't see any damage on the front / display side, and it's actually well-crystallized on the back, so it's fairly complete most of the way around. This piece really stands out as a fine example of this classic pseudomorph association. Despite the fact that the locality is unknown, it's still an attractive and intriguing piece that would make a great addition to any collection. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#6872). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
