Item Description

This is a really attractive piece of the hard to find pseudomorphs from the Cacilia Mine. According to the label, the piece is Quartz after Calcite, but upon close inspection it appears that there are clearly some rhombs of Dolomite on the piece as well. It has a somewhat "geode"-like appearance, with a concave surface that looks like it might have been broken open to expose the crystals. Good quality all around, and desirable on the market, as they are seldom available. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#3687). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
