Item Description

A very cool US pseudomorph of these classic specimens from Bessemer Ridge featuring Hematite and Goethite which have replaced preexisting crystals of Epidote and then later coated by gemmy white Quartz. What sets this piece apart from the few others I've seen is that it's not just a single crystal pseudomorph, but a sculptural three-dimensional display piece featuring multiple crystals! The original monoclinc prismatic form of the Epidote crystals is still beautifully preserved. These are the kind of specimens that you can't get on the market anymore, you can only find them in old collections like this. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#10204). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). A beautiful and attractive old-timer from this lesser known locality.
