Item Description

From a small discovery in 2009, this is beautiful Quartz specimen, featuring several habits. The predominant form is the slightly smoky colored scepter overgrowth which sits atop the original milky Quartz prism. What's really interesting is that the smoky overgrowth features both Jacaré ("alligator") stepped faces, along with triangular shaped Window ("Fenster") habit faces on the pyramidal termination. The back of the specimen is filled with dozens of thin, sharp, "needle"-like colorless Quartz prisms, creating an almost "hedgehog"-like effect. The piece is in superb condition on all sides, with only one small contact near the base. The underside of the crystal is actually partially healed ("re-healed"), as you can see a tiny bit of re-crystallization when you view it with a loupe. Overall it's a superb demonstration in the various morphologies of Quartz, and it's a fine quality specimen to boot! A must have for any Quartz collector or fan of Chinese minerals. Priced in our inventory at $1,200.
