Item Description

The famous Idarado Mine in Colorado gets is name from the combination of the Idaho based Sunshine Mining Company and Newmont Mining in Colorado (IDA-ho + coloRADO = IDARADO). This historic and prolific locality is one of the great ore producers in all of the Colorado and the United States for that matter. Some of the best and most well-known display specimens of minerals like Quartz came out of this mine. This fantastic large cabinet display specimen features many sharp, well-formed, lustrous, prismatic crystals of Quartz measuring up to 4.3 cm long with very minor matrix. Now the crystals either have a slight overgrowth of milky white Quartz creating a semi-scepter-esque appearance, or the outer layer of the Quartz was partially etched away, creating a pseudo-scepter appearance on some of the crystals, as the inner portion was exposed. It's hard to illustrate in the video, but if you look closely, you can see what I'm talking about. If you look closely, you can see tiny individual reflective faces on the prism sides of many of the Quartz crystals. It's one of the more interesting and unique specimens we've offered from the Idarado, and it's a must have piece for any fan of big display pieces, Colorado minerals or worldwide Quartz crystals. Priced at $1,500 in the inventory.
