Quartz var. Amethyst "cactus quartz"

Item Description

While we saw so many of these at the time they came out in the late 1990s-2000ish, most of the so-called "cactus quartz" specimens were plates and clusters of crystals with no real dominant crystal in the middle; or loose singles and small clusters. This specimen is somewhat unusual in that it is composed of a single huge dominant crystal, with sidecars - the opposite of the norm where most crystals in a cluster tend to be either the same size or in increasing sizes to the middle. It is dramatic, and different, from most others. the large central crystal is approximately 9 cm tall, complete all around, and with a clean and sharp termination not covered by the "cactus" growths that tend to creep up the crystals like ivy and cover the tips to almost the top, on other specimens.
