Quartz var. Amethyst/Smoky with Chalcedony and Opal-AN

STUNNING example of quartz from Brandberg, even to those of us jaded who thought we have seen it all! Quartz specimens from Brandberg are renowned for being among the most beautiful, colorful and fine-quality examples of the species from anywhere. This small-cabinet specimen encompasses a gorgeous single scepter that rises up on a plate of Quartz. Gemmy and lustrous, you can see the swirls of purple and brown within the termination. The piece has a shroud of microcrystalline Chalcedony which greatly enhances the specimen. But surprisingly, and such a surprise it was, there is Hyalite Opal also coating the Quartz. Under UV, Hyalite Opal is famous for glowing a bright, fluorescent green, and here it creates the most amazing aesthetic for an already select piece. I can think of several 'ghostly' analogies, but I think the photos more than speak for themselves!
