Item Description

It's always a bonus, and surprisingly uncommon, when you find a quality specimen with multiple forms/habits of the same species. Here, this sculptural and very complex Smoky Quartz, from the less well-known locality of Sao Geraldo do Baixio, gives us just that. There are both tabular and prismatic Smokies here, all being gemmy and highly lustrous, intergrown together with edges and terminations shooting in all directions. The largest prismatic crystal is 4.2 cm while the largest tabular crystal reaches about 5 cm. Many of the are doubly-terminated. As expected, there is some wear in a few places, but the overall aesthetics, enhanced even more by the intricate growth, are excellent. Difficult to photograph well, it is an order of magnitude better in person.
