Quartz var. Smoky Quartz (floater)

Item Description

Extremely FASCINATING specimen that on the surface is simple yet in reality very complex. It starts simple enough as a single 16-cm-long sharp well formed, highly lustrous, transparent, glassy, Double Terminated Smoky Quartz crystal. However it has asymmetric pseudohexagonal habit terminations with three long faces and three shorter faces. The asymmetry is repeated on the other termination but it is rotated 180 degrees. The DT Quartz continues with some skeletal growth features although several appear to be internal to the last outer Quartz generation. This final outer phase exhibits numerous natural growth inhibition features such as indentations and imprints of other crystals as the Quartz grew. This amazing DT Quartz just has so much going on! It also has a sharp outstanding phantom in one tip showing an earlier Quartz termination with a clay coating. As if all of this wasn't enough, the specimen's attribute list continues with a HUGE 15mm internal bubble on one prism face that moves along a 3.4 cm tube. The piece is in near pristine condition with only a tiny chip on one termination and no apparent matrix contact attachments. A truly mesmerizing DT Quartz with tremendous texture and character.
