Quartz var: Smoky (RARE ''FADEN'' + GWINDEL for the locality!)

WOW! What a unique and rare specimen from this famous locality. Novo Horizonte is best known for three mineral species, i.e., Quartz, Hematite and Rutile. The famous specimens of Hematite and Rutile from this locality - which form beautiful "stars" - are often found on or included inside of Quartz are iconic. Typically the Quartz crystals from this locality are simple prisms, so you don't ever expect a piece like this to show up! This is a wonderful specimen of fine quality Smoky Quartz in the classic "Gwindel" (German word for "twist") habit with good luster, sharp crystal faces and SUPERB internal gemminess. When the piece is backlit, it shows a very light smoky hue. The cherry on top is that there is a clear "Faden" line running across the crystals, which just turns the rarity factor up to 11. I can't recall EVER seeing another piece that showed the Gwindel and Faden habits together from this locality. You can see there is a slight "twist" to the "Gwindel" when viewed from above, it's not just a few crystals in parallel growth. The bottom of the piece is contacted where it was separated from the pocket wall, but the rest of the piece is in superb condition. You're not likely to find another like this on the market, and if you collect Quartz or Brazilian minerals, this would make a fantastic addition to your collection. The piece comes from a discovery in 2020. Valued at $2,000 for the rare locality and superb quality.
