Item Description

Here we have an excellent cabinet sized display specimen featuring dozens of sharp, lustrous, white prismatic Quartz crystals with a sprinkling of off-white colored semi-spherical "popcorn"-esque groups of Anhydrite (erroneously labeled Aragonite on the collection label) with minor associated pink Rhodochrosite on the reverse side. If you look closely, there are some very thin bladed "casts" where presumably previous Anhydrite crystals formed, dissolved away and left their indentations. I strongly believe this piece is from the F Level of the mine, and was found around 1966-1968 based upon similar material I've handled over the years. From the collection of Gary Weaver of Prescott, Arizona (1944-2019). Gary was an electrical engineer who worked for many years for Hughes Aircraft in California. After retiring to Prescott, Arizona in the early 2000s, Gary rekindled his childhood love of minerals, amassing a collection of roughly 2000 specimens focusing on localities in which he and his wife had lived or visited (Mexico, Peru and the western / southwestern United States). You can read Gary's obituary here https://www.dcourier.com/news/2019/apr/27/obituary-gary-richard-weaver/
