Item Description

Classic chalk-white, bladed Barite crystals are associated with sharp, lustrous, gemmy Quartz prisms from the famous Swiss locality at Piz Beverin. There are three Quartz crystals on the specimen, and all of them show distinctly different habits, which is unusual not only for the locality, but for Quartz in general. The Barites from this locality are not common, and frankly, the crystal on this specimen is the single largest Barite that I've seen from Piz Beverin (4.6 x 4.3 cm). Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#12973). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Velt" November-December 2017).
