Item Description

The Idarado mine is most famous for it's Manganoan Calcite specimens, in fact, the largest quantity of the finest quality Manganoan Calcite specimens from Colorado were found in this mine. Tthis specimen is actually a plate of sharp, lustrous, "milky" Quartz which are sprinkled with small Caclite scalenohedra which have been coated/replaced by sparkling, metallic, Pyrite. The Quartz crystals are translucent when backlit, and the overall aesthetics of the piece make it a very good display specimen of this truly classic San Juan material.
