Quartz with Hematite coating plus Magnesite

The Pomba Pit locality in Brumado, Brazil is famous for producing some excellent mineral specimens, especially the finest crystallized Magnesite specimens in the world. This piece is a beautiful display specimen featuring an attractive GEM quality, colorless Quartz crystal, which has a gorgeous coating of reddish Hematite on the surface, and a bit of milky white overgrowth in certain areas. The base of the crystal features a cluster of sharp, well-formed, gemmy, colorless rhombic crystals of Magnesite for a nice touch. I particularly like the small diamond-shaped trigonal bipyramid faces that can be seen between the intersection of the prism and pyramidal faces. Despite the amount of crystallized Quartz specimens there are on the market from all over the world, you don't see many like this from Brumado, so don't miss out, as it would make a fantastic addition to any Quartz suite, Brazilian collection or a gem crystal display collection.
