Item Description

This road fill quarry has produced some beautiful specimens of crystallized Quartz over the years, with a characteristic red to orange hue caused from iron inclusions / coating, somewhat similar to the more well-known specimens from the Orange River in Namibia and South Africa. What sets the pieces from the Boylston Quarry apart from virtually all others with this color is the fact that they have a charactertic tabular form (compressed along one axis) which give them a beautiful appearance. This piece features a very flat / compressed, sharp, lustrous, translucent to gemmy Quartz crystal which shows a lovely bright orange tone throughout (it is a bit brighter on one end). Now it's not a completely crystal, but a rather a crystal section, but it's still a great overall piece from the locality. If you collect Quartz specimens, Canadian minerals, or piece with unique inclusions, don't miss out on this one.
