Item Description

Yellow iron oxides coat the upper half of the shapely, sharply terminated and pristine 360-degree miniature quartz crystal from the famous and extinct Ag-Au-Cu-Pb-Zn-Sb Black Pine Mine of Montana. The upper half of the crystal is transparent, with the lower half being translucent. The sidecar crystals at the base add character. The Bill and Anne Cook collection label names the yellow material as Bayldonite (green Pb-Cu-arsenate), but we believe it is iron oxide. A fine miniature example of the species and locale, noted for world-class Veszelyite specimens. See the 1992 Mineralogical Record in Vol. 23, No. 6.
