Item Description

A lovely sized specimen gemmy to transparent colorless "Bergkristal" Quartz with light pink (manganese-bearing) Calcite from the lesser known Swiss Alpine locality at Piz Beverin. The Calcites have formed in flattened rhombohedra with the largest group measuring 5.0 cm across beautifully set against the sharp, lustrous, prismatic Swiss quality Quartz crystals. No major damage, just a few nicks here and there to the Quartz crystals, but you almost never see this association from any Alpine locality, especially Switzerland. Valued at $500. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#11904). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
