Item Description

A classic piece of the rarely seen Quartz crystals with Pyrite inclusions from Sao Jose da Safira. Now it must be noted that the Quartz itself has been cut and polished to resemble a hexagonal prism, but none of the faces are natural. If you look closely you can see a sharp, lustrous, metallic, golden 7 mm pyriothedron of Pyrite complete suspended inside. I can see at least a few additional smaller Pyrites inside as well, but the main crystal is the real attraction. Quartz is an "inclusion-friendly" mineral, but it's rare to find sharp, euhedral, eye-visible crystals of another species floating inside like this. Valued at $500. From the worldwide collection of David Burgess (1951-2016). David was a prolific species collector from Newington, Connecticut, and the namesake for the extremely rare cobalt arsenate species Burgessite, which he discovered.
