Item Description

A UNIQUE Jalgaon specimen from a find which also produced twinned crystals. It is a dramatic large complex calcite scalenohedron, that has been replaced by quartz! NO DAMAGE, COMPLETE, PRISTINE....it is a miracle this beast came out intact! It is an incredibly impressive (and large) specimen in person. Interestingly, there are oriented brown oxide-included quartz lines along the edges of the original calcite crystal, and somehow these lines of color faithfully preserve the original edges of the calcite, though they are ALSO quartz. I don't understand how we got this bicolor, oriented effect, but there it is....and luckily, as it makes for a more dramatic and unique specimen! I cannot rave about this one enough. It looks like a classic striped "skunk" crystal from the famous deposits at Irai, Brazil! Valued of such a large and unique oddity should usually be $1500-2500 I would think
