Item Description

Rauvite is an ultra rare hydrated calcium, uranium, vanadium oxide occurring in the oxidized zones of U-V ores in Colorado Plateau-type deposits. It has questionable/doubtful status as a mineral species, according to the IMA. That being said, this very rich specimen is from near the Type Locality in Utah. The blackish, amorphous, waxy material is clustered in several places on the laminated shale matrix. Not pretty to look at, but this is an extremely rare, rich example of the very unusual species. Ex John White Collection of Seattle. FEDEX delivery worldwide - no problem.
