Item Description

A really different and unique specimen from India featuring a flattened radial "spray" of oddly orange-red colored Scolecite, sitting in the center of a "nest" of botryoidal, translucent, lilac colored Chalcedony. It's the only piece I can remember like it from the Deccan Trap. It's certainly distinctive for the unusual color of the Scolecite (which is often only seen in white/colorless crystals), but to have it forming inside of a group of Chalcedony like this is rare. A very attractive and just plain different specimen for any fan of Indian minerals or zeolites.
From the collection of David E Ziga, a geologist who graduated Miami (of Ohio) University in 2017, with a mineralogy background.
