Item Description
Gorgeous rich cherry-red color, when this thick rhodochrosite rind is back lit! Small rose-red, translucent, bubbly botryoids with satin luster in sculptural tiers richly cover the manganese ore matrix. The rind is up to 2.1 cm thick. The noted bruising/contacting is certainly only a modest detraction to this highly representative example. Rhodochrosite is the best known species from this less well-known extinct Soviet-era Fe-Mn-Pb-Zn-Ba deposit. Uncommon today, these came out in the mid-1990s, with none since.
