Item Description

Rhodochrosite is a relatively rare gemstone worldwide. Stones from well known localities such as Colorado and South Africa are becoming more difficult to find on the market, and the prices are going up all the time. Recently there was a discovery of some very fine gem quality Rhodochrosite at the Wutong mine in China. These stone are very reminiscent of the superb gems from the world famous Sweet Home mine in Colorado. This particular stone is a beautiful reddish-pink "Cushion" cut gem with SI clarity. The cutting is very good, and the color is very bright and eye-catching. Rhodochrosite gems this size are hard to find from any locality, and I recently saw this exact material retailing for as much as $250 per carat at the Tucson Show in February.
