Item Description

A classic and excellent rhodochrosite specimen from the famed late 1970s finds at the N'Chwaning I Mine. Gemmy and lustrous, cherry-red, scalenohedrons to about 6 mm cover the vuggy surface of the massive manganite ore. Yes, there is bruising around the periphery, but the core of the specimen is in good shape. Highly representative of the varietal and noted locale. Ex Howard Belsky Collection. Howard started as a mineral dealer at age 13 in 1972, became a sophisticated dealer and died tragically at age 28 in 1987. His collection recently became available to us through his family.
