Item Description

The Zanett Tunnel was named for the family in Ouray that owns the Grizzly Bear Mine. This locality is well-known for its beautiful Rhodochrosite specimens which are among some of the most sought after San Juan Rhodochrosites by Colorado collectors. This full cabinet sized specimen hosts attractive, semi-"rosette"-shaped soft pink colored groups of Rhodochrosite which are sitting atop typical soft grey green colored Quartz (which gets it color due to "Chlorite" inclusions - a signature for the locality) along with tiny pale green cubic Fluorite crystals on matrix. The largest Rhodochrosite "rose" measures about 6 mm across. Very minimal damage, and the piece looks great under magnification. A beautiful specimen of this classic material. From the inventory of Brian Kosnar.
