Item Description

When it comes to Rhodochrosite, most people would agree thath that the finest crystallized specimen from any South American locality are the pieces from the famous Uchucchacua Mine in Peru. This classic cabinet sized specimen features excellent, sharp, gemmy, lustrous, rich pinkish-red color scalenohedral crystals measuring up to 7 mm long on contrasting black manganese-bearing matrix from this well-known Peruvian mine. I can see a small crystal of white / colorless Fluorite near the edge of the piece as well, but it's partially buried by the Rhodos. Nearly every crystal is pristine, and they sparkle like jewels when the piece is rotated in the light. Valued in the inventory at $1,500. From the worldwide Rhodochrosite collection of Dr. William S. Logan (Specimen #X40-7) with a few accompanying dealer labels.
