Rhodochrosite from Peru is often overshadowed by more productive localities, such as Sweet Home Mine in Colorado and N'Chawning in South Africa, however, Peruvian rhodochrosite actually represent some of the best valued specimens of the species available today when they are at their best! This rich thumbnail specimen features two gemmy rhodochrosite crystals, the largest crystal measuring 1.8cm. Both crystals are nicely saturated and are arranged aesthetically on a small amount of contrasting matrix to make for a great thumbnail example. A gorgeous piece, and one of the finest thumbnails of a Peruvian rhodochrosite you could ask for. For any thumbnail collection, consider this fact: mostly, the smaller pieces from Sweet Home and NChwaning all look kinda the same so it is hard to differentiate owning a great one from an average example - but this one unique specimen, it has a style and an aesthetic that make it really stand out as a thumbnail of the species! ex Keith Williams.
