Item Description

Here we have a rarely seen example of the unusual Raura Rhodochrosites dating back to the 1970s. Not many of these pieces were found even when they were coming out, and virtually nothing else has been found since. This small cabinet size piece features beautiful, sparkling, soft pink color, semi-spherical aggregates comprising tiny Rhodochrosite crystals associated with minor Pyrite crytals on grey Quartz matrix. The largest Rhodochrosite "ball" measures 1.2 cm across. Raura is better known for excellent Stibnite specimens, and good Rhodochrosites are desirable for collectors of the species. Valued at $1,200 retail. A very attractive and fine quality example of this classic material from Peru. From the worldwide Rhodochrosite collection of Dr. William S. Logan (Specimen #X137-1).
