Item Description

A very rarely seen specimen of Rhodochrosite from the Lone Tree Mine in Nevada, but specifically from the Sequoia Pit. If you're a collector of Rhodochrosite, no collection is complete without one of these elusive specimens. This piece features a handful of unusally radial groups of orange-red colored Rhodochrosite measuring up to 6-7 mm across sitting on grey-black Romanecheite matrix with minor associated Barite on host rock matrix. The Rhodos have good internal translucency when backlit, and the piece displays nicely as you can see. Very few of these exist, and you'd be hard pressed to find another in today's market. From the worldwide Rhodochrosite collection of Dr. William S. Logan (Specimen #X78-8) with an additional dealer label stating it was from the Fleeman Collection. Valued at $950.
