Item Description

An adorable rhodochrosite thumbnail from the famous 1970s and 80s finds at the Potosi Mine. A glassy, translucent, 1.4 cm, pretty rose-red, terminated rhodo crystal is jauntily set on the side of a striking, sharp, glassy, doubly terminated quartz crystal. Sharp terminated quartz crystals are RARE from here and is an outstanding and RARE combination. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 6714 and acquired from the Lidstrom's at the 1972 Anaheim Federation Show (an early specimen from the finds). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien-Welt" November-December 2017).
