Item Description

This piece was mined in the late 2000s, and seem to have dried up now. These distinctive and eye-catching Chinese Rhodos really remind me of specimens I've seen from various mines in Colorado in terms of their habit/form and associations. This piece is filled with dozens of sharp, soft pink color, flattened rhombohedra of Rhodochrosite which are scattered over prismatic gemmy Quartz crystals, and if you look closely, you can see some sharp, well-formed, lustrous, black blocky Sphalerite crystals among the Quartz prisms. A small amount of associated Pyrite can be seen as well. If you flip the piece over, you'll see a rich coverage of hundreds of additional little Rhodochrosite crystals (forming somewhat "rosette"-esque groups. You really don't see many of these Rhodos from Wutong available, so don't pass this one up because the locality has produced little to nothing in the way of specimens in recent years. Priced at $1,750 in our inventory.
