Item Description

These classic rhodochrosite specimens from the Eagle Mine are some of the most recognizable and attractive rhodochrosites from Colorado. They are not the typical blocky rhombic habit like those seen from the Sweet Home, but rather highly compressed rhombs that usually form beautiful "rosettes". This fine plate is festooned with sharp, semi-lustrous, pastel-pink, flattened rhombohedra of rhodochrosite on crystallized rubyjack sphalerite matrix. This mine closed in the 1970s and will never produce these specimens again. They are highly prized among Colorado collectors for their unique form and obvious beauty. Ex Richard Kosnar Collection. valued $600
