Item Description

Mineral specimens from this obscure old extinct small silver-polymetallic mine are quite rare. Rhodochrosite (listed by MINDAT) is extremely rare. An impressive dense mass of pretty pastel-pink, lustrous, lenticular rhombs, to about 5 mm, is aesthetically set on the sculptural quartz matrix. The mine was discovered in the early 1900s and very intermittently worked into the 1950s (MINDAT). Ex W.S. Logan Collection # X72 and illustrated on Page 64 of his 2013 self-published book, Rhodochrosite - Crystals of Drama and Nuance (available by request). A VERY RARE and rich British Columbia rhodochrosite with uncommon crystal style.
