Rhodochrosite (rare locality specimen) (ex Geary Weaver Collection)

Item Description

One rarely encounters specimen from obscure Daniel Bonanza Mine in the San Juan Mountains of Colorado. The cabinet sized piece features several soft pink colored rhombic crystals of Rhodochrosite with a drusy coating of gemmy Quartz crystals. There are some areas of iron oxide underneath the Quartz which creates a nice contrast of color. The largest Rhodochrosite measures about 6 mm across. There are metallic spots of Sphalerite and Pyrite / Chalcopyrite mixed into the matrix, and the underside features a vein of massive pink Rhodo. If you're a fan of Rhodochrosite or Colorado minerals, you need one of these in your collection, as they are nearly impossible to find on the market today.
