Item Description

An incredibly rare locality specimen of Rhodochrosite from the obscure Ohligerzug Mine. I've never had a piece of this material to offer in the auctions, and it would make a superb addition to any Rhodochrosite suite, or a German mineral collection. The piece features small (up to about 3 mm) modified rhombic and "rice-grained" crystals of brownish-red colored, translucent Rhodochrosite on matrix. Super rare to find on market, and you could only find a specimen like this in an old collection. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#4654). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Velt" November-December 2017). Valued at $1200.
