Item Description

An important, RARE and aesthetic rhodochrosite and galena combination from the famous Potosi Mine. It must have been an important find, as even the mine level is known. Sparkly spherical aggregates of translucent, pretty rose-pink rhodochrosite rhombs fill a sculptural vug atop the boat-shaped matrix wedge. The 2.3 cm cluster of splendent, sharp, metallic galena cuboctahedrons and cubes is a dramatic, excellent, stark and RARE accessory. Ex W.S. Logan Rhodochrosite Collection. The piece is illustrated in the MINDAT photo gallery for the Potosi Mine. The photograph is by Russell G. Rizzo & Cal Neva Mineral Company. The piece displays beautifully without aid.
