Item Description

An adorable and aesthetic rhodochrosite and quartz thumbnail combination from the famous late 1970s rhodochrosite finds at the Huallypon Mine. A glassy, lustrous, translucenty pretty rose-red rhomb is dramatically framed with two terminated quartz points, both of which, have a partial coating of drusy quartz. This is a wonderful and sculptural 360-degree combination thumbnail from this renowned find. Formerly in the Jean Hamel Collection. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 8381 and acquired in an exchange in 1998. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). A super cute combination.
