Item Description

A showy and attractive association specimen features glowing pink colored, "rosette"-like groups of Rhodochrosite associated with Quartz and dotted with small bronze colored Chalcopyrite crystals which are sitting atop semi-spherical mounds of Pyrite and Sphalerite matrix. Most of the specimen is damage free, though I can see a few incomplete crystals here and there, the only real damage is around the periphery where it was removed from the pocket wall. The piece honestly looks better in person than the photos might indicate, and if you collect worldwide Rhodochrosites or minerals from Peru / South America, don't miss out on this eye-catching specimen from this classic locality. Valued in the inventory at $1,500. From the worldwide Rhodochrosite collection of Dr. William S. Logan (Specimen #X12-5). This is certainly from an older discovery, circa late 1970s or early 1980s.
