Item Description

No, this is not from the Sweet Home Mine, but it's a dead ringer from the Wutong Mine in China. This locality has produced not only the largest known crystals of Rhodochrosite in the world, but certain pockets contained crystals that were every bit as sharp, lustrous, gemmy and RED as those from the other side of the world. This gorgeous aesthetic miniature features a very sharp, gemmy, lustrous, strong red color rhomb of Rhodochrosite measuring 1.3 cm which is associated with a colorless / white Quartz crystal along with minor purple Fluorite on matrix. The main Rhodo rhomb is in great shape, but there is a tiny nick on one corner, so it's not 100% damage free. It glows with color when backlit! One rarely sees Rhodochrosite crystals of this quality from this locality, and these specimens seemed to have completely dried up from the market, so don't miss out on picking this one up for a great price. From the worldwide Rhodochrosite collection of Dr. William S. Logan (Specimen #X108-1) with a label from a previous dealer. Valued at $1,800 in the inventory.
