Bannisterite is a rare phyllosilicate and is seldom seen in specimens from the famous Broken Hill Mine. This old thumbnail consists of a vein of gemmy, cherry-red rhodonite on lustrous, brownish-black bannisterite with a rounded freestanding crystal of bannisterite atop!
