Item Description

Classic cherry-red to orange-red, gemmy to translucent rhodonite crystal sections are richly embedded in the galena matrix on this fine combination form the South Mine at the famed Broken Hill deposit. Rhodonite is a Holy Grail species from the locale. One prism face is present on the impressive large, stout, 3.6 x 3.0 x 2.2 cm tabular crystal aesthetically set in the sculptural galena matrix. The outer face is a cleavage so this is not of high value, but is still an excellent reference specimen from a famous find, with a large crystal from the Chet Lemanski Collection.
