Item Description

Felt-like, very soft to the touch, lustrous tufts of so-called "Rat's Hair" romanechite (commonly called psilomelane at this locality) cover the massive, banded matrix of manganese oxides on this striking piece from New Mexico. Romanechite is a relatively uncommon barium, manganese oxide. Excellent, highly representative material from this locale.
