Item Description

A superb, wonderfully sharp, textbook, purplish-red colored crystal of Ruby measuring 1.5 cm is smartly sitting atop the limestone and schist matrix. The matrix has been trimmed (probably overseas) and their are some marks on the side by the trimming tool used, but you can't see it from the display side and the piece sits beautifully and the Ruby crystal is propped up right at the top of the piece. When backlit, the crystal glows with a vibrant color. Hard to find these days, and this piece easily dates back about 20 years when they were more plentiful on the market. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#13023). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Velt" November-December 2017). Valued at $1750.
