Item Description

Mineral specimens of ANY species are RARE from this obscure Swiss locality with outcrops of corundum-bearing pargasite-amphibolite (MINDAT). This VERY RARE combination features sections of glassy, translucent, purplish-red ruby crystals, to 1.1 cm, embedded in one face to the blocky solid matrix of intergrown lustrous actinolite prisms. MINDAT does not list actinolite for the locality. Cherry-red ruby fluorescence. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 10718 and acquired in Spring, 1985. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). A RARE, perhaps UNIQUE ruby and actinolite Swiss combination piece. A MUST for the species or locality collector.
